DANTE CLASSICS COVER

Back in 1989 First Comics wanted to do an adaptation of Dante's Inferno for their Classic's Illustrated line of comics.
I did this Joseph Cornell inspired composition for the cover. Based on the proportions of this image, the art director could not fit the Classics logo into the company's uniform cover design and asked me to use bleach and adjust the painted image to fit the cropping they desired. I refused to do so and as luck would have it, First Comics went under soon after.
I never got to finish the adaptation and I'm quite sure it was a blessing in disguise. I've gotten to know more about the source material, and today's computer technology can easily adjust any image to the desired size without harming the original art.

UPDATE: Here is the cover today with some slight modifications done with the computer.

Hello!
My name is Kori Crampton, and I teach Mythology at Timpanogos High School in Orem, UT. I have my students read a portion of Dante's "Inferno." I love the cover that you created for the illustrated novel. I was curious if I could use, with your permission, of course, the image you created in my classroom as part of my introduction of Dante? Please let me know if you feel comfortable with this, and if you have any additional interpretations of Dante's work.
Thank you so much!
